Solomon, David's son, oversaw the construction of the temple for the Name of the LORD (cf. 1 Kings 5-8; 2 Chron. 2-7). Although not permitted to build the temple, David prepared the plans and materials (1 Chron. 22:1-19; 28:1-29:9) and arranged for its liturgical service (1 Chron. 23-26:19).
